FARMERS GET 5000 MOTORBIKES!!

5000 motorbikes are said to have been delivered to the Zimbabwean government. These are meant to “modernize” the farming infrastructure. Any step towards resuscitating the dead farming sector is a welcome move.

However it would make much sense if those bikes were handed over by Minister of Transport. The President’s office is big for such, we would expect handing over of machinery like tractors, harvesters of commissioning of a motorbike assembly plant to be reserved for such an office

Instead of hand-outs to farmers, which has failed dismally in the past, the government should capacitate institutions like the DDF with tractors and other machinery that will be accessible to farmers for hire. That will go a long way in terms of accountability and discipline on our farmers that will eventually lead to productivity.

Please capacitate DDF to have tractors and other equipment for hire at ward level, this will go a long way in mechanizing our operations

We don’t want the farmers to look like this before they reach their farms or intended destination.
